This book is a perfect short read. I don’t know how Cho Nam-Joo managed to pack so much into such a short space! This book follows a South-Koren womans Psychological spiral after the birth of her daughter. Highlighting the gender inequality of women not only in South Korea, but throughout the world. I will leave it there as I do not wish to spoil the impact that this short read can have.

“We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson

This chilling novella about the Blackwood sisters and their secluded life after a family tragedy is a masterclass in suspense and psychological horror. Jackson’s tight prose and eerie atmosphere make for a gripping read.
